Found: World-class banyo at the Shang
Posted on

Manila is my town. But restroom-wise, Singapore is the winner.
I never have to worry about calls of nature when I’m in Singapore. Nothing like Singapore restrooms—even if you’re in the mall. You can expect lots of clean, modern stalls with great design, like this one at Orchard Central

Some of Singapore’s restrooms are beautiful enough to make you cry.
Manila’s restrooms can also make you cry—for the wrong reasons. That’s why I’m in a constant hunt for Singapore-class restrooms.
Finally stumbled upon one at the East Wing of Shangri-La Plaza.
First of all, walang tao

Shangri-La East Wing restroom

So many stalls, no queue

They thought about important details, such as a place to park your things (say no to bagteria)

Shangri-La East Wing restroom

There’s even a baby station. Forgot to check if there is a breast-feeding chair

Shangri-La East Wing restroom

So much space

Shangri-La East Wing restroom

And clean-looking undercounter sinks!! Cause I hate over-the-counter bowl sinks!!

Shangri-La East Wing restroom

Smelled so clean, it’s unreal. Only thing is, you pay 10 pesos to go in. I don’t really mind, but seriously, nice toilets should be a standard, not a business.
P.S. Isn’t Shangri-La a Singaporean company? Maybe that’s why. #worldclassbanyo

Hmm..I must say SG’s MBS mall and Marina square restrooms are not nice. MBS mall loo is definitely a disappointment. SM aura’s or Glorietta loos are better. No charge *thumb up

Nice are the rest rooms here but like what you said dana, they get to maintain these rest rooms… sana di din agad maluma ung toilets sa shang.

actually the east wing has 2 bathrooms per floor. one of which is a PAY restroom, and on the other end of the floor is the free one. they’re both the same, you just have to walk to the other end if you don’t want to pay P10

Maybe “kinda” out of topic (because it’s not in Singapore or in Manila) but the Emirates Lounge in Dubai has a really nice toilet too. Lumelevel sa Singapore. 🙂

When I went at the East wing of Shang I think last July(?), napa-wow lang ako. First thoughts were: Chuvaness should see this. And parang bumalik ako sa HK office (Central Building) namin, sana we have din dito automated doors para wala ng hawakan sa door knobs. *tamad* *OC*

“P.S. isn’t Shangri-La a Singaporean company?” Maybe. That’s why it’s called Shangri-LA. Hahaha

I couldn’t agree more. They have the best restrooms of all the malls in the Metro.

I actually thought of you when I first entered Shang’s new restrooms! I’m like, this is Chuva approved, I’ll bet she’ll blog about this one day! And you did! [Reply]Topaz Horizon Reply:October 6th, 2013 at 11:39 PMLOL Ako rin! I was thinking about you, Cecile, when I was in East Wing’s restrooms. Actually, whenever I’m in a public bathroom, I’m thinking, “What will CVS say?” LOL Malayo lang ang lakad, though. [Reply]CVS Reply:October 7th, 2013 at 1:14 AMhahaha! you and a few others wonder if a banyo is chuva-approved. I should make a special stamp 🙂 [Reply]Roxi Santiago Reply:October 7th,… Read more »

But Shangri-La’s old bathrooms are not so nice. I like going to the Rustan’s department store just to use the toilet. The bathrooms in The Enterprise Center, which is Shangri-La-owned, are not so nice either. I’m glad they’ve made the ones in the new wing so much better. My hope is that they maintain them.

Wow! You pay P10.00 now? We were there last June 22 and there wasn’t any fee collected. It’s money well-spent naman. The restrooms are really nice! The only thing is, it’s a long walk to/from the restroom and there’s an area wherein nobody can see you, blind spot kumbaga. What I’m saying is, it’s a bit scary that someone might make bantay and accost you? Just saying.. 🙂 [Reply]Topaz Horizon Reply:October 6th, 2013 at 11:40 PMI thought that, too! I’m not the type na nagpapasama sa banyo but when I went there, I didn’t feel safe. [Reply]Chrissy Reply:October 7th, 2013… Read more »

The restroom nearest the north car park is free (with the long walk) while the one on the hotel side is a pay restroom. Both by the elevators.

there is a fee now for the banyo? I was at Shang’s new east wing and didn’t pay a cent. once in the lower ground (infront of bread talk) and the other time at the 4th flr. they look like the once that I used naman din… I wonder where in the pay lounge.

I had a phone stolen at the bathroom in Ion Orchard. I put it on the counter to wash my hands, turned around to find paper towels and dried my hands, then it was gone. Ang bilis.
