Who should be the new DOT Secretary?
Posted on

Now that Alberto Lim has resigned as Secretary of Tourism, who do you think can get the job done of getting the tourists to come and come back via modern airports, honest customs, taxi cabs, clean toilets, upgraded hotels, less crime, cleanliness and beautification and all that?
It’s a tall order, but someone out there can make a difference.

So tired of politics and those who have connections to politicians. it has become too dirty for me to believe that anyone who has any relations to politics can bring change to our country. so… If Miss Joyce Ramirez can bring Ed Westiwick to the PI, then she can definitely bring the Philippines to the world 🙂

LOL! I find it painfully amusing how Joyce Ramirez made the list. She even took pains campaigning for votes via Twitter. Pero sige na nga, for fun lang naman.

Mr. Gordon has my vote.

Carlos Celdra, I’m sorry I don’t think I can take him seriously. I’d like to think he’s a basket case.

Rissa will be better off with her social issues.

I highly recommend and support Joyce Ramirez! The one who brought hollywood stars Ed Westwick to Philippines for Penshoppe. As we know Penshoppe always been the best product or brand for Philippines and when Ed Westwick were there, it’s bring a lot of tourist attraction. So I think Joyce has the potential to bring the glory of philippines & will make PH tourism become more n more successful in the future. I believe she will do this. hello, you and your small world. can you both get out of your own little bubble? Penshoppe is not the best brand in the Phils and bringing Ed Westwick doesn’t mean someone deserves to be a DOT sec.

For ur infomation i’m not even Filipino, i’m from your neighbour country which i’m really love Philippines. And for sure my world are bigger than urs. I’m not here to waste time on this, i’m taking it seriously. You are right about some points, at least what Joyce did is all for the philippines. She concerned about it, and she wants people to know Philippines, this is what tourism about.

Joyce Ramirez should nt win. pwede ba she doesn’t have a following, so who would take her seriously. plus, sino ba sya?! the person who’s feeling teen pa and payat kung makapanlait ng iba. she doesn’t embody a person na pagmamalaki Philippines, she even said that she liked Thai People over Filipinos. Baka ang santo papa matakot tumapak ng Pilipinas sa kanya. sayang. he needs to go to rehab

Dick Gordon.  He has the track record, the personality.  Sometimes he can be a pain, but it does seem we need that kind of gadfly in the Philippines.

I admire Risa and Carlos, and I would walk barefoot to Antipolo for their causes, but Risa is too focused on social issues to be an effective rah-rah person for Philippine tourism, and Carlos is too polarizing to be an effective agent for administrative change.

Why is Rissa Hontiveros on the list? And just because Joyce Ramirez brought Ed Westwick here doesn’t mean she’s qualified to be on the list. Dick Gordon is perfect for the job. How about L-Ray Villafuerte?

is this the official shortlist or for discussion sake lang? i think migs zubiri should be in that list.
i also like dick gordon but i think we’d all be better off if he were president. 🙂
okay sana si carlos celdran but he has to lessen his “arrogance.” i’m not saying he’s arrogant but sometimes lang i feel that he comes of arrogant to some people even if he’s not.
i think who we really need for this position is someone who knows what s/he’s doing and can relate to both the elites and the masses, hence, migs zubiri. 🙂

Most people think that being the DOT Secretary is just about promoting our country’s tourist destinations, enticing foreigners to visit and invest. It’s also silly to think the solution to jump start tourism and inbound travel to the Philippines is as simple as bringing in Brangelina or this or that celebrity. It could help sure, but the role of the Secretary is not that simple… To be an effective Secretary, the person appointed must be passionate about the role and must know how to manage a huge organization such as the DOT (more than 500 people are currently holding office… Read more »
