We are booked and confirmed
Posted on

Now I can blog about this hotel because we are booked and confirmed for mid-April!
We’re off to Europe this summer because of Opa’s 70th birthday. We’ll be in Holland, Belgium and Germany (because they are right next to each other) and Paris because the kids want to see the Eiffel Tower and the Mona Lisa (so cute).
We are booked on Cathay Pacific and I’ll just have to survive my fear of flying during the trip.
As for Paris, I literally looked at dozens of options, designs and price points before choosing La Maison Champs Elysees.
The deal breaker was really the Margiela design

Ms. C!  Where do you buy your dollars?  Sanry’s, Aguirre, AsianFX and Town Best Money Changers have stopped selling as of yesterday while Czarina’s rate is quite high.  Banks require a travel ticket and itinerary which I don’t have yet coz I’m still in the planning stages of my trip in July-August. 🙁

I hope you’ll never stop blogging.  My day ain’t complete without going to your site!  I’ve learned to love Japan because of you! 🙂

Hi, Ms. C!

I’ve travelled to Europe three times and two of my trips there were both via Cathay Pacific (HK-London-Brussels). For my last trip there (2009), I experienced the smoothest and the most tranquil flight ever. I think the route that Cathay takes from HK-London (and back) is not as turbulent as other routes, that’s why I enjoyed the entire journey even though I have fear of flying. This is just to help you be at ease, I guess 🙂

Enjoy your trip, and take care!

Hi Ms. Cecile,

This is an exciting trip. A friendly reminder though: PICKPOCKETS EXIST IN PARIS so please be extra careful. My sister’s bag was stolen in the train with her passport in it.

How old are your kids?  Took our daughter to Paris last year (she was 8) and what she remembers most are yes, the cheesy stuff — Eiffel Tower (especially at night), the Mona Lisa and the Seine river cruise.  She was also fascinated with riding the Metro to go anywhere – it was quite an experience for her 🙂  So let the kids experience that too – since I know they cant ride public transpo here 🙂 [Reply]CVS Reply:February 2nd, 2012 at 3:52 PM10- and 8 year-old boys here 🙂 [Reply]Mau Reply:February 3rd, 2012 at 7:18 PMwhat about the lil… Read more »

For kids, though, I think the Louvre will have more appeal because the more popular (at least at the ages Ben and Markus are) works of art are there. For boys in particular, I don’t think Degas’ ballerina paintings are a must-see.

Happy to hear about your upcoming trip!  What a perfect time to be in Paris coz it will be a little cool, at least enough to dress up in jackets and scarves, and make “porma.”  Hahaha!  Lovely hotel, by the way. Maybe you should do a personal fashion editorial in there?  You’re in Paris, after all!

Wow, pretty! Can you document your trip? I really love Europe but since I’m just a mere college student, di pa pwede 🙁 I’m relying on blogger’s experiences! If you do document, it’s like you are taking your readers through your trip too! 😀 Enjoy! 🙂

Must go to the Marais! You’re gonna love the shops and the scene there. And take na rin your kids to the Musee D’Orsay if you have time. They’re gonna love it.

I studied in France (but not in Paris) for the Fall semester 2011 and I super loved it! You have to see the Eiffel at night! It’s pure love! 🙂

My eyes keep going back to the pentagon-shaped kagome-lattice chairs (I don’t know the proper term for those). Ang ganda tingnan but parang not very comfy to sit on for a long time. 🙂 That said, I’m excited about your future posts on this trip and for your very long flight. Advance happy birthday to Mr. Van Straten senior, whom I met here last November. 🙂 I’m sure excited ang kids – and so nice that they’re curious about the Mona Lisa. PS. Kasama din si Christian? 🙂 [Reply]CVS Reply:January 31st, 2012 at 5:14 PMchristian has no passport yet. [Reply]dontaskmetosmile… Read more »
