This summer, Freeway collaborates once again with swimsuit designer Twinkle Ferraren.
Twinkle’s Summer 2011 Collection is inspired by tribal and tropical tattoos, executed in colorful, sporty, functional swimsuits, active wear, and cover-ups.
Twinkle describes the collection as “a modern and female version of the Pintados and tribes.”
Q&A with Twinkle Ferraren
As a swim suit designer, what cuts are best for which body types?
The basics to remember are: for full chests or top heavy, styles like halter, bandeau and tankini styles are good.
Those who have less on top or are flat-chested can actually carry bikinis and one-pieces with deep necklines.
Those with fuller figures can create illusions with the one-pieces with curved designs.
From this collection, the racerback and scarf-tankini are versatile sets that can also be worn as activewear, as in exercising or working out.
What do you love most about summer and creating swimwear?
Summer is about exploration and new adventures, visiting new places, trying and learning new things, enjoying nature (which is becoming rare), breathing fresh fresh air; while swimwear for me is the leisurely side of fashion, representing the fun, carefree and easy going lifestyle.
What are your summer plans this year?
I haven’t set any plans yet; but I’m checking out a yoga weekend retreat in Palawan, visiting Dumaguete and other parts of the Philippines (road trips mixed with boat trips), trying scuba-diving, maybe a flying sport, sand-boarding in Ilocos and/or as soon as I get some free time, I plan to travel and check out other countries like India or Hawaii.
