I’m not the beach/resort/flipflop type of girl, but more of an urban/indoor type.
So I wasn’t early on the Havaianas bandwagon, although my friend Grace was, swearing by their style and comfort.
She used to line up for them when they came out at Aura Athletica at Rockwell.
Then one day, Havaianas sent me and Jeroen his and her pairs and we liked them. We started to wear them at mass and my parents’ house.
Flipflops weren’t just tsinelas anymore.
Though these days, admittedly, I just wear them at home. But that doesn’t stop me from buying a new pair whose design catches my eye.
So it’s funny that Havaianas chose me as one of their “Citizens of Summer” when I am really an indoor/aircon person during summer.
Uhm, just look at all these other fit people in their beach wear…
Still, it’s an honor to be in such good-looking company.
Today was the opening launch of the annual Make Your Own Havaianas event at the Rockwell Tent.
Going by the theme of travel, my invitation was this huge boarding pass.
Margarita Forés served food a la Business Class.
And yes, the place was packed
Marcus Maguidad came with the band
Spotted: My high school classmate Virna Tiongco
Lots of kids were waiting at the assembly line
I made two pairs for me and Chiyo
The “Harajuku” charms benefit Japan disaster victims
Made a pair for Jeroen too. (Too bad there are no sizes for kids, otherwise it would take long to decide.)
Tomorrow is strictly invitational for Havaianas VIP customers.
It will open to the public from May 12-16 starting at 10 AM.
