Tintin, the movie
Posted on

Jeroen and I may have been born worlds apart, but we share a common love for Tintin or Kuifje as they say in Dutch.
Now our son is into it too.

Tintin Conquers the World!

My siblings and I devoured all the books while we were growing up.
When we’d read all of them, we looked to substitutes like Asterix, but there was nothing really, quite like Tintin.
We were so so looking forward to the Spielberg movie, but upon finding out it’s animated (and the fact that it’s 3D—ick! we’re not as excited and might end up just watching at home. And you?

I’d go see that movie no matter how it is produced or how it turns out. And, of course, I’d consider it a blessing palang if it’s even screened back home in Manila. It’s my favorite book/cartoon series. In fact, I’d just been to Brussels on a pilgrimage devoted to Herge and Tintin 🙂 There’s nothing better than a good Tintin story to make the escapist in me happy, and I learned a lot about myself in my weekend in Brussels. I owe Mr Georges Remi a lot, so the least I could do as a fan is support all… Read more »

I love Tintin! We used to have some of the books and I’d read them over and over. (I just don’t know what my mom did to the books) I love the books cause the stories are so interesting and Snowy is the cutest!

Not a fan of 3D either. If they release a 2D version I’d probably consider watching kahit na animated.

why does it look like the polar express (the christmas movie which featured tom hank’s voice)? would have been better if they did a live action version or an animated version with the aesthetic elements of the television series. this 3D version is just too not-so nice to look at (or dahil ba matanda lang ako?)

I am a big fan thanks to my mother, a francophile, who bought the books when I was small. I just wish that they didn’t make this motion capture. Jamie Bell is great, but he doesn’t look like Tintin, nor does Snowy/Milou look like himself! I will still probably watch it when it comes out. That said, I am looking forward to buying Tintin memorabilia and comics in Brussels 🙂

I love Tintin! But am not feeling the 3D. Sana this is not another Polar Express in the making. I wonder why they didn’t just go the live-action route?

Hmm, am curious about Tintin. I grew up with  Archie, the Peanuts gang,  Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys books. If the review is good, we might watch The Adventures of Tintin movie…. Luv 3D and 4D films, they’re just fun!

I love Tintin too. I was introduced to it via the less authentic cartoon series (I know, I lose my right to claim myself as a true Tintin fan).

I’m not looking forward to 3D Tintin because I think the thin square-tip lines, the color palette and the flat drawings are integral to Tintin. Plus Tintin’s face in this movie looks weird. Still will watch it though. Maybe it’ll grow on me.

i am sad. very sad. He doesn`t look like Kuifje at all. I don`t want to watch the movie.

If Herge was alive today he would never approve of this.
