Puey ‘fesses up in MEGA August issue
Posted on

In this digital age of blogs, Twitter and Facebook, more than ever, a social media scandal can cause an individual to lose everything he/she has worked hard for.
Words of praise turn into dismay, disappointment and disassociation. Judgment is easily casted before light is shed on the issue.
Take the case of celebrity designer Puey Quiñones, who became the subject of shame and ridicule which began with a photograph of a re-tagged jacket posted all over Facebook and Twitter.

Puey Quinones_lowres

In the August Issue of MEGA, Puey opens up to Editor-in-Chief Sari Yap to talk about the incident.
“I agreed to do the interview only because of Sari,” Puey said.
It’s never easy to go public and admit your wrong deeds, but Puey braved the odds and apologized to those he let down.
In said interview, he said he didn’t want to prolong his agony and opted to apologize rather than deny the allegations.
It’s easy to create a scandal, but to erase the stigma will take time and effort to erase.
Puey may have done things wrong, but to err is human.
Coming out clean by admitting his fault is a good way to start again.
Read more about the exclusive confession of Puey Quinones in the August Issue of MEGA Magazine with the Maricar Reyes on the cover, out in stands now.

To Mr. Puey Quinones: Prior and ONLY prior to legal proceedings, of which you will be served on expiry of the 10 days from this date, you have the chance to make an offer of settlement of restitution relating to allegations of theft, embezzlement, beach of trust, conspiracy to defraud, conspiracy to obtain pecuniary advantage, and breach of trust, As your attorney will advise you, the conspiracy charges are the most serious, and we allege that we have sufficient statements to prove these charges. You will be notified by my attorneys as to which civil charges we will pursue and… Read more »

It’s the same old story, whether it be from politicians, or writers who plagiarize, or designers who lift from other designers — it is theft, pure and simple. And any act of contrition should be tempered by the fact that it was NOT given in voluntary circumstance. If he had not been caught, he would not apologized.  A public apology is a good start, but it must be taken with a grain of salt. But now that he has apologized, should he be forgiven? That’s a matter of personal preference, but there has to be an element of accountability. A… Read more »

We all make mistakes….. but if u plan to do that mistake then you have to deal with the consequences…. if other victims didnt show up and kept their silence, always remember… dont fool people…. what comes around goes around…  [Reply]Peter Gregory Reply:October 28th, 2011 at 1:15 AMYes: it’s come around, so I’m using lawyers to bring him to account: Puey ripped me off to the extent of my life savings. He got me to put up money for businesses plus a house plus I financed his fashion businesses and a food business which he stole ALL THE TAKINGS from, even not opaying the salaries of his own relatives and not opayinfg the rent. The thing is if the Dansen scandal didn’t blow up all over Twitter, Facebook, etc. would he have apologized to the couple and made things right? There were other instances, the unpublicized ones, where he was not able to deliver for clients, where he cheated the clients out their hard-earned money, did he make amends with those clients? If the answer to the question above is yes, then I would give him a second chance. But it seems to me that he was just forced to reimburse these particular clients to save face, and the other clients haven’t been as… Read more »

You are correct: Puey compensated nobody except in this case. In MY case, he stole my life savings. He is a compulsive liar, thief, fraudster and embezzler.

if  his shop didn’t make the suits or whatever dansen it was… he could have at least removed the tag dba? wala na nga silang ginawa pati ba naman yan na ka simple d pa nila matanggal.. it’s as easy as 123, i mean if you fool or plan to fool your clients do it naman in such a way na d ka mahalata later on ahahahah .. just a crazy thought though …

Puey preyed on innocent people. He maliciously switched tags and passed off other people’s intellectual property as his own. I don’t understand why we’re suddenly glorifying him for admitting his faults.  Fact : Puey conned a whole lot of people even before this incident blew up.  Puey refused to reimburse 2 of my friends for months and denied the incident. He only relented when the facts were closing in on him. In my book, he’s a coward, a liar and a thief.  [Reply]CVS Reply:August 13th, 2011 at 1:44 AMas for me, I’m not glorifying him, just publishing a press release 🙂… Read more »

i say nobody is perfect. if any of the silly antics i did  in the past made it to the internet, golly, by tomorrow i’ll be an internet sensation. if someone is forever chastised, ridiculed, beaten and punished for one mistake alone, that’s injustice. we should pick something from the experience, apologize to those we aggravated and make due repairs, and move on! change is the only perpetual thing in this world.  [Reply]dontaskmetosmile Reply:August 12th, 2011 at 6:17 PMYeah, but he only “made due repairs” and apologized to the Dansen couple. You don’t understand: it’s MUCH bigger than this: I put up money for 4 businesses, a house and a car for Puey. He stole and destroyed ALL.
