First photo is a pic of Gillian with makeup to compare to Nigella’s photo with makeup. (might be taken at different years though, so…)
Second photo is a fairly recent (within the last month or so) photo of Nigella. Nigella just turned 52 last January 6. And she also eats vegetables aside from her meat, butter, and desserts, and wine, and all that.
Call it prejudice, but I just can’t help but feel sad and look down on those who don’t know how to eat their vegetables. That “kanin + meat-based ulam” mentality, that’s just really sad and pathetic. I think past 8 years old, you should be over those chicken nuggets (or whatever fried meat) and may be kanin and nothing else. Some people just need to grow up and learn how to eat. Good question. What irks me about this post like some of those sensible ones who reacted negatively to this is that it actually came from a chef and someone in the food business who chose to spread this message about a vegetable packed diet being pointless and even concluded that it does not make any difference to your health. To justify that kind of a thought process is beyond me. In response to that photo juxtaposition which is clearly unscientific and flawed, I propose you sample a thousand vegetarians and compare a thousand of those who eat a lot of… Read more »
that’s an extremely one-sided view. some people were raised eating certain kinds of food (and avoiding others), so you can’t blame them if that’s what they’re used to. blame the parents, if you must. imagine mo nalang when you’re vegetarian and are pressured to touch meat. touche. #differentfolksdifferentstrokes
It’s not fair to compare the two photos. Nigellea is all made-up while Gillian is not. I’m sure if Gillian were as fully made-up like Nigellea, she will look a lot better and younger.
Maybe there’s an inkling of validity to the comparison, but Nigella is also a cook with a team of professional make-up artists and is photographed here in well-placed lighting. What ages the woman at left the most is her hands, and we can’t see Nigella’s. Who knows?? I’m all for meat, butter, and dessert, but I also don’t think it’s fair to claim that diet is the sole reason these women may or may not look to be very different ages.
I went on Google to look her up kasi baka haggard lang diyan sa photo na yan – she looks okay naman not as gorgeous as Nigella (goooood genes kainggit) but okay for a 51 y/o. Parang cross between Tina Fey & JK Rowling hehe. And infairness pretty si daughter. Wala lang, naintriga lang :p
Past a certain age, I think a little fat looks better. Pag masyadong payat kita lahat ng kulubot hehe.

Well, you are what you eat. I will judge you perhaps not openly, but I will still judge you.

Most people don’t have the privilege of eating anything more than kanin and nothing else.
[Reply]
Eating vegetables is not a privilege. Meat is way more expensive than your basic veggies.

I love Nigella’s accent! When I first saw her on Lifestyle Network channel almost a decade ago I thought she’s so pretty, lovely and very charming.

But I wonder who has better arteries, liver, etc? Beauty may need not be skin deep but health is.
