MANILA, Philippines—Richard Simmons has been formally announced as the new General Manager of Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila. Richard comes to the Philippines from China, where he held the position of Hotel Manager of Grand Hyatt Macau which opened in October 2009.
Richard started his career in the hotel industry with the Hyatt International in Sydney, Australia in 1986.
After completing an intensive Management Training Programme in Hyatt Regency Dubai in September 1990, Richard pursued his hotel career with various roles in Rooms Division and Sales and Marketing.
Since 1994, Richard has remained in Asia with senior appointments in Hong Kong, Thailand, China, Malaysia, Macau and now, the Philippines.
His commitment and dedication has gained him over 20 years of rich experience working for the Hyatt brand.
The Australian national looks forward to the new challenges ahead, most especially with the support of the team behind Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila.
It’s not his first time to be posted in the Philippines. Between 2004 and 2007, Richard made a career move to Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts which brought him to Beijing and Mactan Island, Cebu.

I had the privilege to experience the world renowned Filipino hospitality and it is always an honor to return to a country where people are genuinely friendly and naturally hospitable, on every level. To be part of the wonderful team of Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila is brilliant and I am inspired everyday by my colleagues,” shares Richard.
