I feel bad that I just finished furnishing my home office recently. Can’t tell you how many furniture stores I went to before settling on the same couch I already have at my office office (I bought the same couch twice!). That’s because of the lack of choices in Manila.
I feel bad I don’t have anything to furnish at the moment, because the most wonderful home store just opened at Bonifacio Global City.
The store is called Habitat, started in 1964 by a young designer named Terence Conran, who opened the first Habitat store in London. His goal: to revolutionize how people live.
He despised the dark colored (wenge?) bulky furniture that dominated homes in the ’60s and wanted to create a store where people could buy furniture and home accessories freely. He also wanted music in the store, which wasn’t done in those days.
During the last couple of years, we’ve had some of the best home stores opening in Manila, but none have made me as excited as this one. When I visited the 1,500 square-meter store, I was instantly blown away with the prices and selection.
Having shopped at Conran’s New York as a college student in the ’90s and having visited The Conran Shop in Tokyo recently, I couldn’t believe we now have this in Manila.
I mean I could’ve bought this bookshelf when I was looking for one
All the kitchen stuff you need
Lots of sofas to choose from in many sizes and chuva-approved shades, fabrics, and prices.
Love the daybeds
Comfy lounging chair
I had to buy something, so I got the stool 🙂
In keeping with Habitat tradition, almost all the wood used in the furniture is light colored, such as oak and walnut. Love the storage cabinet for your shoes, bags, books…
I love coffee tables where you can put books and magazines for guests
Little writing desk
But wait, there’s more…. (To be continued)
