Gates of Hell: Chilline’s T House in Tagaytay
Posted on

Be very afraid of websites that don’t update and accommodations that don’t renovate.
Take the description of Chilline’s T House in its website:

PRIVATE. COZY. SPACIOUS
Feel the cool air with a touch of Greek-Balearic flavor. Sitting at the edge of a cliff, T has a spectacular view of the Taal volcano and its lake. The first Asian home to be featured in Architectural Digest, T is a homage to modern design with an uniquely organic flair.
A gracious example of Filipino hospitality, T accepts private bookings as a weekend getaway and is a venue for corporate retreats, private parties and exclusive events.
T now opens its doors to guests with discriminating taste. We invite you to come home to T.

RENTAL RATES
Weekdays: Php 25,000
Weekend Rates, One Night Only: Php 30,000
Weekends (Friday to Sunday) Php 55,000
Rates are exclusive of 12% VAT; Plus 10% Service charge
Please call for holiday, peak season rates and Commercial shoot rates.

Now view the professional photos, starting with the house itself. Not bad…

And the rest of the features listed on the website:

Hidden Zen Garden
Custom Gourmet Kitchen
Additional Service Kitchen
Swimming Pool
4 Hot Tubs
Sauna and Steam Room
Free Wi-Fi Access

You wouldn’t blame Candy Dizon’s friends and family for wanting to book this, would you?
They paid Php 33,000 for one night but soon found out the website isn’t quite accurate.
Check out the reality of the accommodations, starting with the bedroom—it looks like the chambermaid needs to learn her “hospital corners”…

And my poop just backed up. But hey, there’s toilet paper!

So Candy searched around the house to look for a cleaner bathroom among the five baths, and found these instead

Wait. It gets worse

Chilline's T house Tagaytay

I swear, I would sue this place ten x Php 33,000 for the agony of seeing these in person. I would scream and run, run far away back to Manila.
So be careful when viewing hotel websites, especially in the Philippines. Trust me!
But wait. Candy says there was a positive side to their stay—I just wonder what that is and I wait for her next entry.

Just to add to this, this is their official webiste: http://thousetagaytay.com/. What you see is what you will get. In fact, I even got more than what I’m supposed to get. Since my voucher is for two with breakfast, I was able to negotiate all free meals since I didn’t have a companion with me.

Hi, I also stayed at the T House in Tagaytay City just this January. I’m not sure if there is another T House in Tagaytay, but during my stay there, everything was just perfect. In fact, I highly recommend the place for a weekend vacation or for a destination wedding near Manila. Is the address 3195 Calamba Road, Tagaytay City, Philippines? This is the exact address of T House where I stayed last January.

Stayed there before… I have to admit, the it is very photogenic http://www.traveltripsters.com/2012/12/chilline-t-house-in-tagaytay-city.html We had to check in late because they were bookings ahead of us and we had to leave early because there was a wedding booked right after us. According to the housekeepers, they get continuous bookings mostly for shooting and weddings.

That’s the problem with some B&B’s, they’re run like an ordinary house. Not properly managed and maintained like a hotel or resort. Owners should be ashamed of what they did to a Layug-Pineda creation. With rates they’re charging, they should have been able to maintain its upkeep. I’m a hotelier and I must say it looks worse than a Days Hotel in the US.

This happened to me and my friends as well! We stayed in TICC in Tagaytay but our experience was WORST. Merong “unknown guests/spirits” in the hotel. The area was really big pero kami lang magclassmates! We wondered why wala nang staff by 10pm, the whole place was OURS. There were bangin’ in our doors, the door that was really heavy moved then at 12am or something, sa may window namin parang may chain na sino-stroll. Hahahahaha! Kaloka. Anyway, you can ask for refund with the hotel! Sobrang mali naman ata na kakaiba sa photos and personal :)) [Reply]CVS Reply:July 17th,… Read more »

How disappointing to see this jewel at such a dilapidated state. When we stayed here, we enjoyed the experience both inside and out, because of its pristine state during that time. I hope the management has made a way to at least maintained the place at its finest. There are two things that can be done with this house: 1. Have movie and TV production people use this as their set for horror themes. They can also use this for action movies that need lots of explosion and demolition effects. 2. Have Ivan Henares get into the picture and have… Read more »

I panic when I read this blog, we’ll have our wedding preps here, super fully paid na months ago, they assured me though that they will repair everything by August, but I don’t know if I should gamble or just get a refund.

That’s why I always turn to Trip Advisor for reference. It’s always updated by customers themselves through their comments/reviews + pictures.

You know what is even more disgusting? The owner of the house saw this bog and complained about it. He was not even apologetic. Not one bit. He never made an attempt to contact us after that 2-paged review of our experience. Now he is arrogant enough to demand that we ask you to take down this post and that of Candy. It’s insane! [Reply]CVS Reply:July 14th, 2013 at 10:53 PMreally? So far the most accurate hotel website photos to real life experience for me would be The Peninsula Manila and Astoria Boracay, both under their own star rating. At least they’re not deceiving.

That’s just so gross. We rented a house for 15k a night in Tali Beach and it was much better taken cared of than that. And it had a really nice pool and backyard!

This location has been used in various teleseryes (PHR Kristine, Magkaribal among others) and films (that KC-Richard movie). Obviously, gamit na gamit na pero di na-maintain.

I felt like I have seen this place somewhere. Then I suddenly remembered a soap on ABS around 3 years ago… I think it was Kristine. The one that starred Christine Reyes. I think this was the house that Kristine supposedly stayed in when she lost her memory. I thought it was such a beautiful house. Maybe I’m wrong, though, and it was a different one.
