Banana Leaf memories

Do you have Banana Leaf memories?
I remember when it just opened at Greenbelt 1. Jeroen and I weren’t married yet and my brother and his girlfriend were excited to take us there.
We were thrilled to eat on banana leaves and there was a real Indian chef tossing or baking this wonderful naan bread.
I can finish this whole thing.

Naan

My favorite dish there used to be chicken rice and this barbecued beef thingy.
And now I like the chicken, no need for rice.

Hainanese Chicken

Banana Leaf is where I actually received the text or call that a really explosive blog had opened up about three years ago (bad memories there).
I have even been to Banana Leaf in Guangzhou, China, believe it or not.

Recently, Banana Leaf opened at the Promenade in Greenhills, so my friends, cousins, Jeroen and I decided to meet up there and have a feast of the tastiest prawn balls, which I really liked

Veggies, like Stir Fried Chinese Kangkong with Sambal Sauce

and so much more until we could no longer eat.
Disclosure: My cousin Francis treated us!

The Banana Leaf franchise in China is not connected to the Banana Leaf here in the Philippines.

I love the Kangkong with Sambal sauce, too. I also like the eggplant version (but oddly not available at some branches). Anyway, because of this post, I shall try the prawn balls the next time we do Banana Leaf. Saw a branch at APM Beijing, so it’s the same?

Like you, I love their roti canai with curry sauce and their kangkong in sambal sauce! Yum! My family and I had an unforgettable experience in Banana Leaf Podium years ago but it is of the negative/unpleasant kind so I won’t post na lang. 🙂

I have 3 roti canais everytime I’m at banana leaf. Love the green curry. And I LOOVE the drinks.

Bad memories though of banana leaf @ alabang. Terrible service and we waited for almost 2 hrs for our food while we watched other people who got in later than we did eating happily. Our drinks were finished and my hungry parents were testy. We left without eating. Anyway that banana leaf is closed now.

No problems with banana leaf @ greenbelt. 🙂

Resto chains should really strive to maintain a standard of service at all branches.. Just saying.

I’ve been to Banana Leaf twice at Robinsons Place Manila. My favorite is the Roti with the Curry Sauce. Maybe I should try your favorite chicken. Is that same as the Hainanese chicken?

Ay, I’ve been to that Banana Leaf branch in Guangzhou, I think. Is that the branch with the Pinoy singing waiters? Grabe, some of them were gay, and one of my officemates was reasonably attractive (read: hindi ko type), and pinagkaguluhan nila siya. We had such a hoot, I think we stayed until closing. They were so much fun and so nice. They gave us a discount pa, if I remember correctly. And I love their roti. And my my fam (except me) love their clams in chili sauce. And their Banana Leaf-style Pad Thai is really yummy. Haaay. Kagutom.… Read more »

I was able to visit the Guangzhou branch din and yeah, the waiters were really nice. 🙂 Yummy food as well! Their seafoods are served very fresh.
