Aldub fever and 5 really good photos of Alden Richards
Posted on

Tell you the truth, I wouldn’t have known about #aldub if Dinna hadn’t told me about it.
Dinna is my source for all things trivial and unknown because I live in a cocoon.
Aldub is the love team of Alden Richards + “Yaya Dub”—a character played by Maine Mendoza who was discovered by Eat Bulaga through her viral Dubsmash uploads.

Curious, I tuned in to Eat Bulaga to find out what the fuss is about and became very amused at how it affects all the maids in our household. It really makes them happy!
Personally I think Maine Mendoza looks wacky, but Alden Richards is a doll, so I get it!
Hey, even my eye doctor talks about them.

In Eat Bulaga‘s “kalyeserye” segment, Maine Mendoza plays a yaya called “Yaya Dub” who falls in love with actor Alden Richards on TV. Because the two are assigned to different remote locations, the two communicate via television splitscreen.
This has led the masses to anticipate their meeting in the flesh, which has yet to happen. They have had two near opportunities, only to be foiled by Yaya Dub’s heartless transgendered boss (played by Wally Bayola).

I can only remember a few Filipino heartthrobs that have caused much hysteria, like Robin Padilla in the ’90s and Daniel Padilla in the last few years. Though I have to say I find neither of them attractive.
But Alden Richards is so damn cute with the dimples, the hair, and the good boy looks, unlike Enrique Gil who has bad hair, bad wardrobe, and bad language (ask Fashion Pulis).

Alden Richards is currently the hottest actor on Philippine TV, and not just for the masses.
To prove my point, here are five really good photos of Alden found online.

1) From the Inquirer

2) On the cover of Men’s Health

3) Matinee idol looks captured by Andrew Apuya

4) Good hair day (pondering a rather heinous shoe)

5) Good hair, good outfit captured on his birthday

So yes, I get it, and the maids’ reactions are priceless. I should photograph/film our helper Aiza when gets all giddy when they’re on TV.
This is why Eat Bulaga is the longest running TV show in the Philippines. As one of the closet installers at my house put it recently, “Hindi ka talaga magsasawa.”
So cheers to Eat Bulaga, Aldub fever, and happy fans all over.

He does remind me of John Lloyd Cruz though in terms of acting. And yeah, even my mom has become a fan. Mula Lunes hanggang Sabado, she’s fixated on the TV basta Kalye-serye na.

Nobody seems to agree with me at home, but I feel like Alden Richards has the same appeal that Aga Mulach did in the 90’s. It’s probably the dimples and the boy-next-door good looks. Also, he looks tisoy, but not giving off too much Western vibe. Very Pinoy pa rin.

Alden is a mixture of the late Rico Yan and John Lloyd Cruz. Saw him 3 years ago and he is so charming and nice in person.

Enrique Gil is trying to be all gangsta and cool with his mismatched outfit and bad statement hats or caps or whatever you want to call it. Why does he wear those really ugly caps anyways? Alden is so much better than him or Daniel Padilla. Alden looks more polished and yes…he has that good boy next door appeal.

Until you pointed it out, Enrique does dress up like he is in high school. And I think same age lang sila ni Alden…. And yes, I got hooked too with the whole kalyeserye thing – it just makes me happy . 🙂 The good boy appeal is really there and it seems like most people who have met him (once as a fan/worked with him etc) have consistently said how nice he is.

I have to agree with what you said about Enrique, sayang that guy. He badly needs a nice hairstyle. Random question: Do you watch or know On the Wings of Love? 🙂 [Reply]CVS Reply:September 15th, 2015 at 12:22 PMno i haven’t seen that one [Reply]Nancy Reply:September 16th, 2015 at 10:20 AMCheck out On the Wings of Love,Cecil. You’ll like it. I thought I’m over pinoy teeny bopper loveteams but those 2 ( james reid and nadine lustre) have changed that ? they have that kilig factor. I think: James Reid > Enrique Gil.

Pero agree, ang guapo talaga ni Alden, saka parang wise for his age. Napuyat ako kagabi pinanood ko interview nya sa YouTube. Hehe
