NEW YORK—Renowned designer and favorite judge on TV’s Project Runway, Michael Kors celebrates 30 years in fashion this year.
Started in 1981, his unique pieces have been described as timeless luxury, pragmatic glamour, and having a modern point of view in both ready to wear and accessories.
To recognize his contribution to the fashion industry, Michael Kors recently showed his Fall 2011 Collection at the Lincoln Center.
This milestone was witnessed by the who’s who of fashion and society and graced by celebrities who have inspired Mr. Kors throughout three decades.
Another milestone is the newly opened Michael Kors Madison Avenue Flagship store, spanning 5,500 square feet and three levels so that clients can enjoy a larger display of his collection.
In Paris, he also opened a 7,000-sq. ft. Michael Kors Flagship retail location at 279 Rue Saint Honoré.
Not only is this the largest Michael Kors store in the world, it is also the fashion house’s first freestanding retail location in France.
The flagship offers pieces from the Michael Kors Collection, KORS Michael Kors and MICHAEL Michael Kors labels.
To celebrate its opening, an intimate dinner was hosted by Charles H. Rivkin, US Ambassador to France, and his wife, Ms. Susan M. Tolvon.
This was graced by Vogue’s Anna Wintour, Andre Leon Talley, Emanuelle Alt, Franca Sozzani, and Anna Dello Russo, Harper’s Bazaar’s Glenda Bailey, and W Magazine’s Stefano Tonchi along with celebrities wearing Michael Kors designs: Mary J. Blige, Zoe Saldana, Jennifer Hudson, Claudia Schiffer, and Karolina Kurkova.
