Maria Taniguchi’s Echo Studies opens March 30
Posted on

The Vargas Museum presents Maria Taniguchi Echo Studies, opening March 30, 2011 at the Lobby and West Wing Gallery at 4 PM.

MTaniguchi Echo Studies Invite

Echo Studies reflects Taniguchi’s practice in the “sublimation of the intersections in information sharing and research”.
It focuses on how the researcher’s decisions, sensitivities, and process continuously challenge scientific objectivity in the creation and manipulation of data.
Employing sound, video, painting, drawing, and installation, the artist probes relationships among subject, representation, and process.
Taniguchi brings in this exhibition a large-scale geometric abstract painting, Untitled Mirrors rendered meticulously with black brick-like designs revealing the potential of pattern to “reflect information”.
Echo Studies also foregrounds the artist’s notion of the tropics through a recent work in Romblon, an island south of the Manila known for marble production.

Where’s the best carbonara?
Posted on

I know, don’t look at food photos at night.
But look at this Spaghetti a la Carbonara

Spaghetti, alla, Carbonara,

Did you know that carbonara is ’80s dish here in the Philippines?
That’s when carbonara became “uso” as far as I know.
My sister makes the best carbonara in the world. Good thing I don’t live with her, otherwise….

Spaghetti, alla, Carbonara,
Spaghetti, alla, Carbonara,

It’s haunting me!

Spaghetti, alla, Carbonara,

Eat, Pray, Love has to be one of the corniest movies I’ve ever seen.
But there’s one scene I recall where Julia Roberts eats carbonara like there’s no tomorrow.
I can’t cook, but luckily I’m married to a chef.
Here’s that Eat, Pray, Love carbonara recipe from People Weekly. Try it if you wish.
