I first heard about Dexterton upon the recommendation of Architect Ed Calma, when Jeroen and I started building a house more than 15 years ago.
Back then, we had to make special trips all the way down to Sgt. Esquerra, Quezon City. The whole trip back and forth would take about four hours.
It was worth it because Dexterton has everything you need for your house—from your kitchen and bathroom fixtures, to outdoor tiles and special home accents.
Founded in 1962, Dexterton Corporation, then known as Chesterton Industrial Corporation, started as a local hardware store along Rizal Avenue, Caloocan.
Now it carries over 100 international brands across 11 major home product divisions such as hardware, building materials, plumbing, lighting, flooring, home and office furniture, commercial and retail fixtures, janitorial and cleaning equipment, consumer and sustainable products.
The good news: Last October 15, 2016, Dexterton unveiled its newest mixed-use showroom and residential building at Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Occupying three floors and almost 2000 square meters, the showroom offers beautifully curated spaces where customers can find home styling inspirations, as well as brands that meet their exacting standards.
On the ground floor, you’ll find bathroom fixtures by Gessi, Hansa, Laufen, Kohler, Inda Accessories and Emco.
It ain’t Christmas yet but it sure feels like it with all the goodies being sent to our home.

There’s a new mall at BGC that I’m just waiting for stores to open at.
Luckily for HAY fans like me, Design Story just did at the 3rd level.
It is owned by Dana Uy, Joseph Tay and his wife Stenie Coyuito—the same trio that owns Casa Bella, which houses high-end brands like Moroso, Kettal, Driade, and Santa & Cole.
So furniture-wise, I trust their taste.
Design Story combines two design sensibilities in one convenient space.
It is 70% HAY and 30% Stellar Works.
HAY is a mid-range Danish brand established in 2002—the result of a collaboration between Troels Holch Povlsen, founder of the Bestseller fashion chain, and furniture designer Rolf Hay.
Stellar Works, on the other hand, combines Eastern and Western designs and techniques in its woodcraft, upholstery and leatherwork.
HAY began as a chair company. It’s most popular design, called About A Chair, can be ordered in different finishes, colors and fabrics.
HAY, which promotes the Danish Modern aesthetic, is known for nurturing young design talents and partnering with with established designers.
In 2005, HAY began to produce accessories for the home and office. The accessories, which include paper products, storage solutions, throw pillow cases and quilts, are good entry levels to the brand.
They start in the Php 300 to 500 range for the pens and scissors. The chairs start at around Php 14,000. Couches are priced at around Php 200,000.

If HAY is thoroughly modern, Stellar Works combines classic designs with contemporary sensibilities. The sofas and chairs have a ’70s feel but look closer and you’ll see how the designers have successfully combined old and new. The prices are quite reasonable with the lamps starting at Php 8,000 and chairs at Php 15,000.
Like HAY, Stellar Works is a brand that thrives on collaborations. It has teamed up with American designer and architect David Rockwell and Chinese design pioneers Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu.
Aside from chairs, HAY also has tables, shelves, carpets and other pieces for the home. The brand is also into contract, supplying furniture for restaurants.
“We wanted to offer something different so customers could have more options,” said Dana Uy. According to Dana, they even lend out their furniture to clients to see how the pieces fit in their houses or condominium units.

Kenneth Cole, for the third consecutive season, embraces The Courageous Class—those determined individuals who overcome life’s challenges to become the inspiring role models they were meant to be.
Among them is Toxic Shock Syndrome survivor, activist, and model Lauren Wasser.
Lauren Wasser was practically born in the fashion industry, having her first shoot at just five months old for Italian Vogue with her model mother, Pamela Cook.
She remained in the entertainment industry as both a model and aspiring actor until the age of 24 when her life took a devastating turn. Lauren suffered from Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) from a tampon and nearly died. While Lauren was lucky to live, she lost her right leg and the toes on her left foot.
The experience of having her old identity ripped from her, along with the daily struggle to even walk, sent Lauren into a deep depression and she even contemplated suicide. Then Lauren reconnected with an old acquaintance Jennifer Rovero, a photographer who began using phototherapy as a method for healing.
With her newfound confidence and anger, Lauren decided to fight for awareness for TSS.
In 2015, Lauren and Jennifer shared her story with Vice, becoming one of their biggest stories, reaching 6 million views and opening up a global conversation about women’s feminine hygiene and beauty.
Since then, in addition to our campaign, Lauren has worked clients such as Nordstrom, Refinery 29 and Noisy May who are embracing her new image and helping spread awareness about Toxic Shock Syndrome.
In February of 2016, Lauren also walked for Chromat in New York Fashion Week. Today, she continues to spread a message of awareness about Toxic Shock Syndrome and body positivity.
The Courageous Class campaign also features model, actress, and maternal health advocate Liya Kebede, musician, humanitarian, filmmaker, and tech creative Kenna, and actor RJ Mitte of Breaking Bad who became a successful actor despite having Cerebral Palsy.
The Courageous Class is an idea borne of Kenneth Cole’s legacy as an aspirational, urban style brand with a fearless voice for social justice that empowers many to “LOOK GOOD, FOR GOOD.”
The Courageous Class looks for inspiration through getting involved. They care about their communities and each other, and don’t let where they have come from, or the adversity they have faced, define their potential. The Courageous Class believes the real models are the role models.
The advertising campaign will be supported by a national print, outdoor, digital, and social media plan. The campaign was shot in New York City by the fashion and portrait photographer Boo George.
The campaign features the work of stylist Tiina Laakkonem, hair by Kevin Ryan, and makeup by Florrie White.
