Now that all my favorite reality shows are on hiatus, I’m getting bored following teenage shows like Pretty Little Liars and Switched at Birth. Somehow I stumbled into The A-List, a gay version of the Real Housewives of New York.
It stars Reichen Lehmkuhl, known for winning the 4th season of The Amazing Race with former husband Chip Arndt, and his relationship with singer Lance Bass. Lehmkuhl is a model, jewelry designer and actor.
His boyfriend in the beginning of Season One is, Rodiney Santiago, a model from Brazil, who’s trying to find a job in New York. Santiago is bisexual and his relationship with Lehmkuhl is his second with a man.
Mike Ruiz is a film director and fashion photographer whose work has appeared in Interview and Vanity Fair.
He is known for transforming celebrities in unusual portraits, and has appeared on other reality series like America’s Next Top Model and RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Trouble maker Austin Armacost is a former model trying to lose weight in Season One. He was known for dating designer Marc Jacobs for a short time. It’s interesting to hear how Marc Jacobs caught him taking home “friends” to Marc’s house and how five minutes later all his things were in two trash bags and a Louis Vuitton duffel that were thrown out onto the street.
Derek Lloyd Saathoff is a former model turned casting agent who hates Austin’s guts and I can relate!
I’ve downloaded the entire Season One but only seen the first episode. I can tell you now it’s juicy, but beware—if you cannot stand the sight of two men kissing, DO NOT WATCH.
As for me, I needed something new to watch after the horrible way Real Housewives of New York ended in Season Four. So excuse me while I go on to Episode 2.
Meanwhile, Season Two of The A-List just started in July with a new cast member.
