It’s getting harder to believe these people are just supposed to be in college. Mature much?
I’m nursing a high school crush on Jake Rosati of MTV’s new series, Awkward.
Played by actor Brett Davern, Jake is quite ordinary in the looks department, bruth to tell, there are no hot guys in Awkward. The hottest guy would probably be Jenna Hamilton’s dad (closer to my age group). But I find Jake so cute because he’s such a nice guy.
As Class President, that means he’s also smart and popular enough to be elected by the student body. He can hang with the cool guys as well as the geeks.
He’s dating a pretty blonde cheerleader, but secretly in love with an ordinary girl named Jenna Hamilton.
That doesn’t make him a bad guy. I mean haven’t you been in a relationship (not married) and secretly wished you were with someone else?
This is where Jake is at and the way he drops hints at Jenna (who is into Jake’s best friend Matty) makes me feel giddy and high school again.
I actually followed Brett Davern on Twitter.
As for his acting ability, while in high school he earned a scholarship to Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Training Center, whose impressive alumni includes Oscar nominees Robert Downey, Jr. and Natalie Portman, and Emmy Award-winner Jon Cryer.
Google told me he 29 years old, playing a convincing 16- or 17-year-old high school student.
That means he already has a brain and is not a baby!
Too young for me, but good enough for Grace who is 33. (We had this discussion on the phone earlier.)
Of course this is all so dumb because we are in love with the fictional character, Jake Rosati, and not the actor Brett Davern—who are totally different people.
That said, I am obsessed with Awkward and cannot wait for the next episodes.
