Can you spot the thief?

Reposting this for my friend whose bag was stolen earlier tonight in a QC restaurant.
I’m really lucky my wallet doesn’t get stolen. I’ve only lost maybe two cameras since 2000.
But what do pickpockets look like? Can they look very chic or decent?
Watch the CCTV capture below. See all the wallets coming out and why you shouldn’t multitask in public places.

almost happened to me in mercury drug katipunan. 2 well dressed girls in their 20′s started crowding me at the counter when there were lots of room on the long counter (there were maybe just 2-3 customers at that time) one was beside me and the other was behind me. I started glaring at them to make them step back. i can see they were signaling each other with their eyes. so i stopped what i was doing, clutched my bag and glared at them til they backed off. they left the store at once after that. mukhang first timers

They never work alone! I had my phone stolen at coffee bean Salcedo park months back. I merely set it besude my lap to butter my croissant and it was gone. I had my suspicions–the maid seated behind me who ordered nothing and was glued to her phone (she probably wasn’t really a maid) and the group of teenagers who appeared to be just Checking out the place. Even the corporate guy across the room who appeared to be checking me out! They didnt appear dangerous so I shrugged it off, but your guts will warn you, I think. I wish coffee bean had CCTV to prove this, or at least a guard on duty during lunchtime. I guess it never hurts to be a wee bit cautious wherever you are. I thought my neighborhood was safe :( and keep valuables where you can see them even if its Dyahe !

Not just the guy in black. He’s also in cahoots with the lady in red in the counter behind the guy they stole from! Notice how she puts out her cellphone and talks on the phone, as if telling the pickpocket who to target.  She’d probably already observed everything (signature, info) as well as overheard conversation.  She pulls out her phone and puts it back in her bag when the pickpocket arrives. Then when the heist is done, she looks back on her shoulder to check if the pickpocket cleared out of the establishment.  Well, the older woman beside the red lady may also be in cahoots (they’re taking awfully long in that line). This teaches you to be observant of EVERYTHING around you.

sadly the chic-est person in the room is the thief…cheap and chic… sosyal doesn’t mean civilized..-the birkin woman, the ‘singaporean’ ponzi scheme where no one met the singaporean, bernie madoff, mf global and at your friendly neighborhood glorietta, our ínternational’ luxury evening bag designer whose one supplier came into her shop and ripped stuff of the shelves saying…””äkin ‘to,,,akin ‘to”because of non-payment for supplies and services..7th Ave (as in NY and not NManila) also ready to throw her out because she hasn’t paid commissions…she’s pretty chic too don’t ya think?

And I thought the “put-your-bag-infront-of-you” rule applied only in the Philippines and in developing countries!

My mother in law gets used empty packets of potato chips, candy etc. then washes them clean and that’s where she puts her money bills. Para pagtingin sa loob ng bag, one would never suspect na yan pala ang wallet niya.

My hunch is right! I find it weird that he positioned himself in the left side corner close enough to the guy wearing brown jacket. Eh wala naman syang oorderin, ni parang di nga tumingin sa mga food kungdi sa tao na pwede nyang ma-target. Pretending to talking to someone on the phone ang drama ni kuya. Ang bilis ng kamay huh.

Grabe! Para syang langaw sa dikit and with black jacket pa!

When we were in Paris in 2010, infront of Louis Vuitton, there was a guy who offered people (over and over) a “lost ring” that he found daw. One-man salisi! Then he approached my husband – I told him and with my hand gesture “Go away! Shoo! Lumang trick na yan” (yes! in tagalog) Then he approached other victims. There’s a lot of Gypsies in Paris now! They are beggars at the Train stations, high-end boutiques etc. and will show you a note that says, they need “help/money” I always say “NO English” tapos aalis na sila agad to approach other people. I’ve seen a lot of French police at the Train station who were doing the sweep check – Useless din!

    Let’s be extra careful.

Poor guy :( Why do this people exist? Ang sakit talaga ng feeling ng manakawan, I should know for I have experienced this a few times na. I remember the very first time my wallet got stolen, I was very mad and furious. The money was a secondary concern kasi yung wallet na nanakaw eh bigay ng daddy ko, it really had a significant meaning to me. I believe in the power of karma, someday somehow they will get their well deserved faith!

Whoa! It is the guy with checkered shirt. He left his bag in the corner table. He went back to get “his wallet”. See that? He lifted a lady bag inside his bag and took the wallet out!

This is why you shouldn’t be putting your bag at your back. Should always be in front of you.
And yes, do not multitask. It is during these unguarded moments that sh*t happens! LOL!
