Bet you didn’t know there was a World Oceans Day.
Started in 1992 and made official by the United Nations in 2009, World Oceans Day takes place annually on June 8.
It strives to promote the importance of the sea as a vital ecosystem and to preserve its delicate habitats and wildlife.
Last June 15, 2012, La Mer launched its limited-edition World Oceans Day Crème de la Mer at the Ayala Museum.
Partnered with Travel magazine, La Mer presented the works of four passionate underwater photographers featuring the marine sanctuaries of the Philippines. They were: JM Abregana, Sean Calma, Mich Manuel and Dominic Nuesa.
As a tribute to founder Dr. Max Huber’s passion for the sea, La Mer is proud to support ocean conservation efforts worldwide by its partner, Oceana.
With more than 300,000 members in 150 countries, Oceana has greatly reduced over-fishing and protected threatened marine habitats with its science-based policies.
This is the seventh year of partnership between La Mer and Oceana.
To commemorate, La Mer has created a limited-edition 100 ml World Oceans Day Crème in a specially designed ocean-inspired jar. In addition, La Mer will make a $200,000 donation to Oceana in support of their Habitat Protection Campaign, as well as other global initiatives for ocean conservation.
Retailing at Php 21,000, the limited-edition World Oceans Day Crème de la Mer is now available at Rustan’s Makati (812-2507) and Rustan’s Shangri-La Plaza (633-4636 loc 114).
