The Search for Manila Hotel memorabilia

The Manila Hotel, on its centennial year, invites the public to participate in an exhibit at the Lobby Lounge this July to December 2012.
If you have in your possession any memorabilia of the Manila Hotel from years gone—in pictures, newspaper clippings, objects or souvenirs—you are invited to share these items in the exhibit.

Just checked out yesterday after taking part in ADB Annual Meeting. I was pleasantly surprised that the Manila Hotel is back to its former glory. And the Internet’s fast, the service is very good, the TVs are high-tech, and they have a nice gift inside your room. Acca Kappa toiletries, too. I want to go back.

I had the miniature version of the Manila Hotel Gym Bag. My dad used to play tennis there a lot, and our Sundays were spent swimming at their Bay Club. Ah, the good old days.

Going there this weekend, actually, for a wedding. ;)

The Manila Hotel looked so much better before Imelda Marcos had that hideous extra building with the garish MANILA HOTEL text on the roof built. She should have taken a cue from the Peninsula Hong Kong. They did a great job with building a new tower to complement the existing classic old original structure. (Yes, Peninsula HK’s high-rise component is a later expansion. This is a photo:
