Wow Philippines!

Our international airport has made it to CNN Go’s Top 5 Most Hated Airports in the World.
I wonder which government will actually fix the problem.
President Aquino, Mar Roxas, Secretary Jimenez, what are your plans?
Can we please have a real press conference, instead of dubious reportage from the Business Mirror?
What’s the real score? Who’s really designing it and when is it going to happen?

World’s 10 most hated airports

The smelliest toilets, the longest queues, the rudest staff … sometimes air rage feels justified

Ninoy Aquino International Airport

Wear a helmet — the first collapsed ceiling in 2006 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Beleaguered by ground crew strikes, unkempt conditions, soup kitchen-style lines that feed into more lines and an overall sense of futility, NAIA brings the term “Stuck in the 1970s” to a new level.
At Terminal 1, all non-Philippine Airlines remain crammed despite serious overcapacity issues and a new and underused Terminal 3 is occupied by a few minor carriers.
A rash of bad press this year (including a “Worst in the World” ribbon from Sleeping in Airports) was capped by a collapsed ceiling in T1, a paralyzing ground service strike at T2, and the usual charges of tampered luggage, filthy restrooms, seat shortages at gates, re-sealed water bottles sold in retail shops and an Amazing Race-style check-in routine spiked with bureaucracy, broken escalators, lengthy Dot Matrix passenger lists and creative airport departure fees.

Sure I hate having a flight at the NAIA airport, being inside sucks. But I HATE IT even more when I step outside.  One midnight, arriving from a trip to the US, I take my trolley to a waiting car and just when I am ready to load my 1 piece of luggage into the car trunk, several men rushed to help me: “ako na po, maam!”  and even when I did it myself, they wouldn’t let me go, begging for  some money.  On a more recent trip, I was relieved to see only 1 young lad sweeping the grounds at the parking lot.   I didn’t think he’s ask for money, but he did.  For sweeping a couple of leaves beside the car!!!  Their sense of entitlement disgusts me! And everytime I arrive in Manila, I just seethe with anger.

Arriving in schiphol airport holland. NO immigration forms to fill up, NO lines at immigration, NO stamps in my passport, ALL good!
i have always asked myself; What are they going to do with the filled up immigration forms? Calling my hotel to see if i am really staying there? Checking if my profession really is a “store manager”?

NAIA is the only airport i know where they write the airline carrier number on the stamp in your passport at immigration. For what reason? This is completely useless and it takes time to do this.

NOTHING TO DECLARE line at the NAIA arrival area: Why does everybody still need to stop here and have the officer check you out?

And of course the most stupid Terminal Fee and SECURITY fee: This really has to stop! At the same time eliminate the people NAIA installs just to check if you have paid the P750 before you go to the gate.

The problem is people like PINOY and Mar Roxas have never travelled like “normal passengers” and they might have never paid for Terminal fees or have never filled up the stupid immigration forms themselves so they will not know what a joke NAIA is…

What I remember most about NAIA are the rude and abrupt staff esp at the desks. That is why everytime we go home to Cebu from London, we always avoid syop overs there and as much as possible fly direct.
