50 Shades of National Bookstore

I feel so blessed to have National Bookstore as a sponsor, or should I say, benefactor?
That means I get invited to book signings, receive autographed copies of books, plus wonderful swag and gift checks that I can use to my heart’s content.
National Bookstore is my wasteland. I’m happy when I get to share the joy with friends and family once in a blue moon.
Today after buying new shoes at Payless and an early dinner at Pepper Lunch, my five-year-old son wanted to buy a Lego book. So off we were to National Bookstore with Ate Mariza and the nanny.
First, I found this really funny. With the elections coming up, I don’t know which politician would actually use these :)

At National Bookstore

Ate Mariza and Yaya Joan wanted to buy pocketbooks, which they share with everyone in the household, including the neighbors’ maids. I told them to choose 10 each.

I was kind of surprised to find these: 50 Shades of Grey in freaking Tagalog!

50 shades of Tagalog?

I should’ve opened it just to see how “butt plug” and “nipple clamps” would translate in Filipino.
And no, I didn’t show it to our maid. Here’s what they ended up getting:

Maids' books

Don’t know if this is a good idea…

Here’s what Christian got—he is a super hyper baby

And my loot: the latest Yes! magazine, Chanel book

Yes mag and Chanel

Plus The Happiness Project book and journal

The Happiness Project

The latter is a gratitude journal, where today I will write: “Had a fun time at National Bookstore…”

hi.. I agree with you po. Every bookstore is a piece of heaven on earth ^_^ hihi.. And I love how generous you are to Ate Mariza and Ate Joan.. 10 pocketbooks each?! Heaven! haha.. I grew up reading PHR pocketbooks and they’re.. can’t put it in words.. :p And the fifty Shades book in tagalog, I read an excerpt of that book on PHR’s website and they’re a bit awkward.. hehe. I wish the excerpt showed what butt plug and nipple clamp are in tagalog..

That Happiness Project book and journal seems like something I could definitely use. Tried keeping a happiness journal of my own from a simple notebook but I became too tamad. Maybe tama na one sentence lang talaga – short and sweet. Will get the set when I go home for Easter. :)

I love what Ate Mariza and Yaya Joan are wearing. So chic and dignified. Off-the-rack or made-to-order?

I think PHR novels are malaswa enough coz I heard one of our yayas telling our other yaya that her bf wanted her to read more PHRs kasi daw bongga makapag-define ng love scenes–so our yaya will learn too, knowing she is probinsyana and all innocent. Hahaha crazy I know. Anyway, my point is, Grey series in Tagalog? LOLLLL that’s mega super duper porn to the highest level na!!!

not all PHR pocketbooks po ay malaswa.. And it depends po siguro sa tao kung magpapasulsol sya sa ibang tao to do things na hindi tama at hindi akma sa paniniwala nya. ^_^

Love National Bookstore. I grew up getting books there on an almost weekly basis. I sincerely hope the customer service has improved though. I have had experiences in different branches with “masungit” old saleswomen. :(

Fifty Shades in Filipino? :o I’m just as intrigued. How to translate all that spanking? Hahaha!
